In Kenya washing stations are called 'factories', and Karimikui Factory in Kirinyaga has been around since the early days of specialty coffee. Located in the shadow of Mount Kenya, high in the hills of Kirinyaga County, hundreds of smallholder farmers supply the factory with their coffees. The lush volcanic soil and high altitude creates an amazing environment to grow high quality coffee, tea and other crops.
Kenyan coffee has a reputation for quality, often grown by farmers with fewer than 100 coffee trees, they are organised in cooperative societies and deliver their cherries to wet-mills for processing.
This lot from Karimikui is exceptionally vibrant, juicy and a treat for any coffee lover.
