Around 1143 smallholder farmers from three local villages make up the Gakuyu Farmers Cooperative Society. Whilst the farmer's lots are generally quite small (1/8-1/4 of a hectare) the rich, red volcanic soil they grow on means they can grow several different crops such as bananas and corn, as well as coffee.
Ripe cherries are delivered to Ndima-ini factory for payment and processing. The factory also gives farmers advances to pay for things such as schooling and farm necessities as well as holding annual training sessions for the farmers.
Kenyan coffees are exceptional in their quality and flavour, we are proud to be able to showcase this wonderful origin.
