The aptly named Worka Cooperative located in Worka operates the Halo Fafate Washing Station. The station serves around 900 smallholder farmers in the area. Coffee in this region is traditionally grown on garden-sized plots by farmers to supplement their income. Coffee cherries are delivered to the station by producers to be washed and dried on raised beds, farmers are paid based on weight at a market rate. Coffees in Ethiopia are typically traceable to washing station level with farmers lots being so small that they are sorted and processed without retaining individual producer information.
Coffees from Yirgacheffe are like no other in the world, and for this reason, we are thrilled to offer this stunner from Worka to you all.
