Finca Los Angeles is more than a farm to Carlos Julio, it is part of the family, "there is an emotional attachment to the land that comes from the whole family working together" he says. Carlos started growing coffee at just 20 years old, having learnt from his parents on their family farm, however high demand and better prices saw him switch to the specialty market four years ago. It was a steep learning curve, and big changes were made on the farm to produce specialty grade coffee, however, despite the added workload, the better prices mean Carlos can invest back into the farm and improve his family's quality of life.
