ABOUT COLOMBIAN PRODUCER GROUP EL MERIDIANO

In the south of Tolima, the municipality of Rioblanco stretches across a vast landscape of mountains and valleys. Tucked away in its southern region lies Herrera, a small town cradled by the towering Andes, with the Hereje River winding through the valley below. The area is defined by its extraordinary agroclimatic conditions, shaped by its proximity to the Huila Snowcapped Mountain National Park and Las Hermosas National Natural Park.

El Meridiano coffee comes from this rugged, high-altitude terrain, where páramos—fragile moorland ecosystems—play a crucial role in regulating water sources. The Hereje River itself originates here, feeding the land that sustains generations of coffee farmers. Despite years of conflict, coffee has flourished as a vital livelihood, bringing stability and purpose to the dedicated growers of Herrera.
