From tragedy often good things grow, this is certainly the case for Gloria Ruiz and her coffee farm Finca La Reserva. Gloria and her husband Carlos started their farm over thirty years ago, using money they had saved working on their parent's coffee farms. They were a formidable team, sharing the workload and tiring duties that comes with running a coffee farm. Sadly Carlos passed away in 2020, and Gloria was left to run the farm on her own, fortunately her children stepped in to help and now Finca La Reserva is a true family-run operation.
For Gloria growing coffee, learning, and improving her product alongside her children is her proudest achievement, and whilst she misses Carlos dearly she knows he would be proud of her too.
