Marinela and her husband, Oscar, have been managing their coffee farm, Santa Monica, since 2007. It wasn't until 2017 that they shifted to specialty production. This was a pivotal moment for the couple, who, alongside their two daughters, run what is essentially a family operation. An event in 2017 highlighted coffee defects and their causes, prompting Marinela and her husband to switch production to specialty and focus more on growing high-quality micro-lots.
