Allow us to introduce you to this British blooded, Kenyan born, professional photographer turned specialty coffee producer, Murray Byran Cooper. The farm "Fire Fly" has been Murrays home for 2 decades and producing coffee for the most recent 5 years. Fire Fly is located just below 1600 MASL where Murray and his partner Patricia have just over 20,000 trees made up of Caturra, Bourbon and Typica Medjorada. After his first harvest in 2015 with little to no guidance his coffees were scoring 84 points. Now, with more attention, support and plenty of hard work Murray has refined his fermentation and drying practices to consistently produce large quantities of coffees scoring 86 points and above!
Ecuador is a little different to most other regions in South America and sourcing great coffee from this country is much more expensive that most others. The percentage of all coffee growers in Ecuador producing coffee for the specialty market is quite low. The majority is low quality, high volume sold to the instant coffee industry. Not only is specialty production low in the country but on a global scale Ecuador only producers 1% of the total world production which makes coffees like this one fleeting and very special. We hope you enjoy it!
