The first Kenyan coffee of 2018 is here! We selected this coffee from a long list of others just for you to enjoy and we are delighted with the outcome! Muthingini refers to the name of factory in which the coffee was processed. This particular factory is located in the Kirinyaga county just south of Mt. Kenya and it’s been operating for 50 years. It has a membership of 2000 coffee growers from neighbouring towns. These growers deliver their ripe coffee cherries to the factory where they are sorted before processing begins. Processing begins with the cherry being de-pulped to remove most of the flesh It’s then subject to a unique “double fermentation” process that up until recently has only been practiced in Kenya. This can take anywhere between 24-48 hours in total. The coffee is then washed clean of any remaining mucilage and dried on raised beds to encourage even drying for up to 14 days. The processing of Kenyan coffees results in an amazing clean and fruity coffee. This is an amazing coffee we carefully selected and roasted just for you!
