Ethiopia, the birth place of coffee, produces some of the most amazing coffee in the world and it’s one of the only origins where land holders deliver tiny picking amounts daily to a central mill and a high quality is maintained.
Farm size on average is less than 2 hectares with less than 1500 trees per hectare and 1 tree is typically producing cherries equivalent to than 100 - 200 grams of green coffee.
Most coffees are organic by default, organic compost is common and pruning less common.
There’s a mix of local improved variety’s like Certo and local Wolisho and a mix of native coffee from forests transferred to family small-holder plots. The varieties are referred to collectively as Ethiopian Heirloom. This is one truly amazing lot of coffee exclusive to Marvell Street Coffee here in Australia.
