This is our first release from the Ela Tenacha washing station, a small but ambitious operation in the hills of southern Ethiopia. Set up in 2021 by childhood friends Ashebir and Ashenafi, it’s the kind of story we love—two locals combining deep roots, community connections and technical know-how to bring something genuinely new to their village.

Ela Tenacha sits just over 2,100 metres above sea level in one of Ethiopia’s most celebrated coffee regions. The landscape is high, green and fertile, and the coffee is almost entirely Kurume—an heirloom variety known for its small, dense cherries and vibrant flavour. Processing here is meticulous: washed, fermented, soaked and dried over 10–12 days using a careful system of sun and shade to protect the parchment at every stage.

We’re stoked to be working with this washing station for the first time. It’s a classic Yirgacheffe coffee with a modern story—a beautiful example of what’s possible when tradition, community and attention to detail come together in the right hands.

We roast coffee fresh each Monday, if stock has sold out we will ship the following roast day. Please refer to our shipping page for more information.
