Máximo inherited Finca La Venus from his father who had used the land to grow grain, and cattle and produce very poor-quality coffee. It is a land abundant in wildlife and unspoilt nature, something Máximo is passionate about preserving. When Máximo inherited the farm he immediately saw the potential in producing specialty coffee, better coffee meant he would be rewarded with better prices so he set about improving his post-harvesting methods and investing in the farms' infrastructure.
Today Las Venus operates primarily as a specialty coffee farm, and Máximo plans to try to preserve some of the surrounding bush as a nature reserve.
