Ledy Moncayo lives and works in the hills of Palestina, Huila, alongside her husband, Luis Edgar, and their two children, Jairo and Stiven.
The farm first belonged to Luis Edgar’s father, but in recent years Ledy has taken a much more active role in coffee production. Since 2019, she has thrown herself into learning, attending workshops, refining processes and helping push the family’s work further each season.
What stands out about Ledy’s story is the way coffee has become a shared family project. The farm is run almost entirely by the family, with extra hands only brought in during harvest. Together they have moved carefully, improving fermentation, drying and storage, while introducing varieties like Pink Bourbon and Bourbon Aji alongside their established Caturra.
That commitment has steadily lifted the quality of their coffee, even leading the family to submit to Cup of Excellence for the first time in 2022. For Ledy, Luis Edgar and their children, coffee is not just the work in front of them, it is the thing they are building together.
