Lenin Flores is part of the third generation of a family deeply rooted in coffee.
As both a producer and quality manager at Finca El Morito, Lenin plays a central role in the coffees coming out of this close-knit community in northern Cajamarca. He oversees quality across the group, contributes his own lots, and brings a sharp, hands-on understanding of coffee through his experience in roasting and cupping.
That combination has made Lenin an important figure within El Morito. He carries the family’s history forward, but with his own vision for specialty coffee and a strong focus on supporting the producers around him.
The Flores family has been growing coffee in Cajamarca since the 1970s, with Finca El Morito established in 2009 by family patriarch Faustino Flores after the family relocated to San Ignacio. What began as one family’s work has grown into a wider network of producers across San Ignacio and Cutervo, with most of the coffee coming from family estates and the rest from neighbouring producers connected to the Flores Chilcon family.
El Morito’s focus on quality has earned the group multiple placements in Peru’s Cup of Excellence, but the real story is in the people behind that progress. For Lenin, that means building on generations of coffee knowledge while helping push the project forward.
This microlot is made up of Bourbon and Caturra, selectively harvested at peak ripeness before undergoing El Morito’s typical double fermentation process. It is careful, deliberate work, the kind that reflects Lenin’s role at El Morito and the generations of coffee knowledge behind him.
