In the highlands of Tarqui, Huila, the ten Guarnizo siblings—nine brothers and their sister Orfandy—have built a unique coffee community. Each sibling runs their own farm, but they work together with a shared goal: producing some of the best coffee in Tarqui.
Wilmar, the family’s leader, inherited La Vega in 2002 when it was barren land. He guided his siblings through every step of coffee farming, from fermentation to drying, creating a tight-knit partnership. Wilmar’s wife Tania and daughter oversee cherry sorting and fermentation, while Wilmar focuses on growing new varietals and conserving local forests. Through their collective efforts, the Guarnizo family has transformed their farms—and their lives—with exceptional specialty coffee.
