Pedro Nel Trujillo is married to Maria Rubi Valenzuela and they have a son called Albert. The three of them, make up a beautiful family business called Finca El Jardin. Pedro Nel considers that his farm is so special because of the family work and how every single member has important an role that contributes to the excellent quality of the coffee. Additionally, the farm has an amazing landscape view and the family always maintain their enduring mission of producing coffee in a sustainable and environmentally responsible way.
Pedro Nel Trujillo started working as a picker on his father’s farm and on other farms of the area. It was very hard for him, because in those times, they had to depulp the coffee manually and wash the coffee in the river banks. That was when Pedro Nel realised that if he wanted to grow professionally and personally, he had to save money and invest in his own farm. He purchased his first farm of 3 hectares on the banks of the Magdalena River. After some years, he realised that for the production of specialty coffee he had to grow coffee at higher altitudes, so he moved to Finca El Jardin at 1750 meters above sea level. This is the fruits of his hard work, we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
